Size does matter when it comes to the Taranaki Society of Arts' Small Painting Awards 2012.

The society will present the exhibition Small Painting Awards 2012 from November 23, until January 13 next year.

Artists are invited to join the society and to enter this competition. Membership and entry application forms are available at Real Tart Gallery, the Gables Gallery, Bookstop Gallery and the Art Shop/Egmont Framing, all in New Plymouth.

There are two categories - watercolour and mixed media (oil, acrylic, pastel etc). Photography is not eligible.

Prizes will be awarded for first and second in each category, and there will be merit awards. Entry fees are $5 per painting or $10 for a maximum of three paintings.

Small paintings must be no more than 30 centimetres on any one side - including the frame. All paintings must have D rings and cords at the back for hanging. Entry forms must be in by November 3 and works in by Saturday, November 17.

Prizegiving will be held on Friday, November 23, at 7pm at the Gables Gallery, Brooklands Park. Any inquiries, ring Jan Leighton on 753 4879 or 027 298 0485.
