The Twitch: Taking stories seriously.

Write what you know is the credo of Auckland band The Twitch.
They are on tour promoting their yet-to-be released and so far untitled album, which drummer Josh Crowther says is the best yet.
The Twitch play at New Plymouth's Basement Bar on Saturday from 9pm.
"We have done live albums before, but nothing to this extent. So this is the most effort we have put into an album in the way of songwriting," he says.
"We really thought about the songs this time, instead of just recording what we had.
"We talk about drugs and alcohol and what happens to you over years of abusing that. And one of the songs is about having kids and trying to deal with being the rock and roll guy you want to be and also being the best father you want to be," says Crowther, who has recently become a father.
"Write what you know and that's it and that is what we have always done."
He says the band want to show the world they are in it for the long haul.
"We are not just a bunch of wasters. We can do it and we can party as hard as anyone else, but we also know that this is really what we want to do and being a complete muppet is not going to get you there. We still like to party like anyone else, but it is all about the music now and it wasn't before. It was about having a party."
But despite the evolution, The Twitch are still all about the rock and roll.
"It is still pretty foot to the floor rock and roll. There is a lot more, though, on the structure of things. Instead of just throwing things in for the point of it, there is thought - like where do we want this story to go? And we followed the story along instead of just singing about whatever we started with. So I think this album makes more sense.
"It is still something that everyone can drink a beer to and have a good boogie to."
