A gig is not always about the music. Local band The Catch have made the effort for Halloween this Saturday, creating ghoul-like outfits and decorating New Plymouth's Basement Bar to resemble a graveyard.
Guitarist Chrissy Dawson says it's fun to be freaks and weirdos.
"We wanted more than just the average gig."
Dawson's clothing company, Brutalitees, is hosting Highway to Halloween at the Basement, which also features Hellbourne, First Floor Riot and Amachine.
"It's Amachine's first gig ever - They play brutal technical metal - and Hellbourne's first gig in New Plymouth for a couple of years, so I think they will be highly anticipated."
Bass player and vocalist Tania Ryken has made The Catch's costumes and decorated the Basement Bar with life-size polystyrene gravestones, complete with moss. Expect sound effects of chains clanging and ghosts getting their groove on.
"We are hoping to make this an annual thing and it is great for this first show that Halloween is on a Saturday," Dawson says.
"We just want to make a cool atmosphere and it's always fun to dress up and pretend to be someone you are not."
