One date down and the bar has been set high for Taranaki on a Date.

On Tuesday night, Valentines Day, Daily News reporter Jo Moir was wined and dined by New Plymouth's Peter Christie.

The date started at Top Town Cinema where they watched the latest romantic comedy, The Vow, before a "surprise" limousine ride around New Plymouth stopping at Lookout Point.

The night finished at Table Restaurant at Nice Hotel where they enjoyed dinner and drinks.

Mr Christie said it was hard to find ways and places to meet people.

Next to take on the Taranaki on a Date challenge is Troy Weston.

Mr Weston has organised a date for later in the week that will involve the beach and a picnic or if the weather doesn't play ball - a home cooked meal.

Check out Mr Weston's pre-date interview and the full story and a post-date analysis of Jo's date with Mr Christie at www.taranakidailynews.co.nz
