Your living area is the centre of your home. It is where you spend time with close friends and family. Memories are made and great conversations take place. Your living room should feel uplifting and beautiful but just as importantly function well. Your sofa is the largest and most extravagant piece of furniture in this room, that is why it pays to invest time into selecting the right piece. Getting it right means enhancing the design scheme of your home.
Begin by measuring your living room and thinking through the furniture layout thoroughly.
Think about how you use the space whether it be for watching TV or sitting by the fire reading a book. How many people are in your family? This will help you select between modular, corner or traditional lounge suites or whether to mix and match a sofa with occasional chairs.
From there you will need to look at your design style. You could be looking for a clean modern look or perhaps a delicately detailed sofa with buttons and a combination of fabrics. Once the sofa is selected, soft furnishings and accessories will grow from there.
There are quality leathers, fabrics and even vinyls available in the market. We tend to keep our sofas for many years so asking about each upholstering finish when purchasing is important.
You can always mix leathers and fabrics together. For example, you could put a vintage leather sofa with modern fabric chairs. If you are concerned you will outgrow the fabrics put them on occasional chairs as they are easier to replace. Enjoy the process of picking your perfect sofa and do not be afraid to ask for help. This is a wonderful way to begin creating a beautiful life.
