Coastal 28 Inglewood 3

NPOB 23 Spotswood Utd 23

Clifton 43 Stratford 5

Tukapa 28 Southern 19

Coastal moved to the top of the Taranaki premier rugby table with a comfortable 28-3 win over previously unbeaten Inglewood this afternoon.

Fullback Rick McKenna had an outstanding game, landing seven penalties and a conversion in a flawless kicking display.

His positional play was also excellent as Inglewood kicked the ball down his throat for most of the afternoon in perfect conditions at Rahotu.

Inglewood, who were missing a number of front line players, drop from first to fourth.

New Plymouth Old Boys and Spotswood United played out a 23-23 draw at Yarrow Stadium.

Spotswood United scored three tries to two but missed a number of kicks which could have won them the game.

A penalty to Josh Hamilton with four minutes remaining got them the draw and a share of second place.

Defending champions Southern's dire start to the season continued after they lost their fifth straight game, going down  28-19 to Tukapa in Hawera.

Tukapa captain Leighton Price returned from suspension to play a leading hand in the win.

Clifton beat Stratford 43-5 in the remaining match.
