A driver lost control of his car and crashed into a power pole after the car skidded about 50 metres on hydraulic oil near Waitara today.
Constable Mark Stevenson said the driver of the Toyota corolla hit the oil on Clarke Rd at about 11.20am.
The 21-year-old male driver told Stevenson it felt like his car had hit ice before it slammed into power pole, which was knocked onto the road.
The driver was not injured in the crash.
Senior fire fighter Rick Jury of the Waitara volunteer fire brigade said sand would be put on the road to absorb the oil, which had been spilt on the road after a tractor's hydraulic line had burst.
The oil spill was about 100m long and Stevenson said it appeared another car had skidded on it before the accident.
He appealed for the driver of the vehicle to contact the Waitara police station.
