A New Plymouth man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of artist Carmen Rogers.

In the New Plymouth District Court this morning, Hogan Lawrence Bolton, 31, entered a guilty plea to a charge of drink driving causing death.

The charge relates to an incident on May 6 when Bolton hit the New Plymouth mother of two with his vehicle on Brougham St.

She later died as a result of her injuries while in Wellington Hospital.

Following a breath test by police at the scene, Bolton blew 1297 mcgs, more than three times the legal limit of 400mcgs.

Lawyer Kylie Pascoe asked for the summary of facts not to be read in court as there were some minor matters to resolve before her client was sentenced.

Judge Max Courtney remanded Bolton on bail and requested a pre-sentence report be prepared before the defendant re-appeared on July 4 for sentencing.

Pascoe said a referral for a restorative justice meeting will also be made to see if a meeting can be held between her client and the victim's family.
