A spate of burglaries around the Taranaki town of Hawera has continued overnight.
Police are urging members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour around the town after receiving reports of two more burglaries this morning.
A total of nine burglaries have now been reported at various locations around the town in the past fortnight, with property including electronic equipment, jewellery and cash being stolen.
Police believe a gang of burglars maybe be operating in the town.
Sergeant Sandy Shaw said a home and garage on Wilson St, which were both locked up, had been broken into.
''The house has been ransacked,'' she said.
A television, coffee machine, jewellery and cash, along with a vehicle were taken from the address. Shaw said the car was found abandoned in the Hawera cemetery carpark last night.
Shaw said a Reid Ave address was also burgled sometime between Sunday and Monday and various tools had been taken from a shed on the property.
She said police wanted to hear from anybody who saw anything suspicious in their neighbourhood.
This included people behaving strangely near properties as they may be ''casing'' them out, with a view to returning later, she said.
Shaw said police were working hard to solve the burglaries, which included forensic scene examinations and considered the cases to be connected.
''We believe the same people are responsible,'' she said.
