School bus crashes

Several children were taken to hospital to be checked after their school bus crashed in rural south Taranaki.

The children from two Kaponga primary schools suffered injuries such as bruised knees when their bus crashed into a car at the corner of Palmer and Neill roads southeast of Kaponga.

A police communications spokesman described the about 3pm crash as "fairly low key".

Ambulance, fire and police attended the crash.
