Another four burglaries occurred around the region at the weekend.

''There was one in Okato, one in Opunake, one on Gaine St and one on Devon Rd,'' New Plymouth police Sergeant Bruce Irvine said.

Although two people have been arrested in connection with the spate of burglaries in Taranaki the problem was still there, he said.

Locking doors and window, hiding valuables, leaving a light on at night, recording serial numbers of electronics, taking photos of valuables, making friends with your neighbours and reporting any suspicious behaviour were the best ways to prevent burglaries, Irvine said.
