A Pungarehu man who seriously assaulted his former partner will be sentenced in August. 

Kevin Delwyn Ratana, 46, pleaded guilty to a charge of injures with intent to injure when he appeared in the Hawera District Court on Tuesday.

Ratana was charged after he repeatedly attacked his victim, on June 14 in Whangamomona, leaving her with swelling and bruising to the face, a cut to the head and scrapes to her elbows and knees.

Judge Allan Roberts remanded Ratana on bail to re-appear for sentencing on August 12.
