Shaun Biesiek won another poll last night . . . convincing two of the three judges that he had beaten Craig Williamson in the pair's Coastal Rumble boxing bash.

The New Plymouth District councillor won the local body battle over his regional council rival on the judges' cards after three rounds of frenetic boxing.

But it was a close enough call for fellow councillor Howie Tamati to predict the judges would go the way of the heavier hitting Williamson.

Williamson looked gone for all money at the end of round two but threw a couple of heavy shots in the third and found a second wind to push Biesiek all the way.

The opening salvo of Opunake's big sporting weekend was a knockout success drawing a full house.

In other results, Rick Simeon beat Andy Whitehead (unanimous decision) and Carlin Hill beat Kylie Brophy (UD).
