Three people charged in connection with several South Taranaki burglaries appeared in the Hawera District Court this week.
Bruce-Junior Tito, 24, Lionel Morgan Tito, 25 and Serene Bowman, 30, all of Hawera, appeared before Judge Max Courtney on Tuesday but entered no pleas to the various charges they faced.
Bruce-Junior Tito and Lionel Morgan Tito both face charges of burglary and unlawfully taking of a motor vehicle. Bowman faces five charges, including theft, burglary, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and driving offences.
Their arrests last month in Foxton were a result of a joint police operation to solve several burglaries around the North Island over the past two months, including in South Taranaki.
While Bruce-Junior Tito and Bowman were remanded on bail, Lionel Morgan Tito was remanded in custody until August 26, when they are all due to re-appear in the Hawera District Court.
In the interim, each will make an application for legal aid.
Stratford CIB Detective Heath Karlson said that although some of the property taken in connection with some of the South Taranaki burglaries had been recovered much of it was still outstanding.
He said the police investigation was ongoing but would not comment on whether further arrests were likely.
