Stratford District Council has joined calls made by the New Plymouth District Council for central government to spend more on roading in the region.
At last week's council meeting, chief executive Sue Davidson said its feedback on the draft government policy statement on land transport from council would include lobbying for more cash to be spent in the district.
Included in the draft feedback report tabled at the meeting was reference to the contribution Taranaki made to New Zealand's overall GDP through the oil and gas, dairy and forestry industries.
In last Monday's Taranaki Daily News, New Plymouth Mayor Andrew Judd raised similar concerns about the inadequacy of government funding provision.
