Copter rescues climbers

Six climbers were winched off Mt Taranaki at about 6pm yesterday.

The Taranaki Community Rescue Helicopter was called to the mountain's Upper Lake Dive track after a man became injured and delayed his climbing party of six.

Five of the climbers were winched one by one to the Stratford Plateau while the injured man was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital for further treatment.
