Rower scrubs Taranaki landing

Trans-Tasman rower Shaun Quincey will not be landing in Taranaki.
The frustrating south-easterly breeze continue to blow against Tasman Trespasser II on Day 48 of Quincey's journey from Coffs Harbour in Australia.
He managed 35km of progress east yesterday.
On his website at 8pm, Quincey's position is 460km directly west of Manukau Harbour. "This is in stark contrast to four days ago where he was approximately the same distance west of Taranaki," said shore crewman Michael Buck.
"This shows what he has been battling with weather wise and with strong south-westerly's predicted from Wednesday until Monday, the hope of a Taranaki landing has pretty much vanished."
Even an Auckland landing is now looking increasingly unlikely, with Kaipara in Northland currently the most likely possibility.
