Rumours have been circulating that Womad may be hosted in Christchurch alternately with Taranaki in a bid to keep the festival viable.

But Taranaki Arts Festival Trust chief executive Suzanne Porter says the rumours are rubbish.

"We have had no discussions with Christchurch," she said.

"There are a number of cities expressing interest in Womad and some of those will be on site, they are coming through to see the event but at this point there is no intention to move Womad out of Taranaki."

Ms Porter said Taft is hopeful they will get Womad back to a break even event this year.

"Who knows? We are reliant on a buoyant last few days sales."
