Works by some of Taranaki's most promising painters are on show at New Plymouth's Real TArt Gallery this month.
The Emerging Collectable Taranaki Painters 2010-11 exhibition opens tomorrow and includes a piece from each of the 35 artists profiled in the book of the same name.
Each artist has produced a new piece for the exhibition and the collection includes everything from naive art to contemporary and abstract work, gallery director Sarah Stevens said.
Launched last December, the book showcases the paintings and tells the stories of local artists who have successfully emerged from the gallery.
"It's a fundraising book for the gallery but it was also a way to promote local artists and push them out into the community," Miss Stevens said.
"People who have missed out on paintings by these artists after the book came out will get another chance at the exhibition."
The potential collectors' items up for grabs are priced from $350 to $3000 and will be on sale upstairs at the gallery until the end of the month.
