Public health check for hospital rooms
Relevant offers
It's been put through its paces by staff and now the public have a chance to check out the mock in-patient room at Taranaki Base Hospital for themselves.
A full-scale, fully-functional example of what patients can expect following the redevelopment of the hospital, the room has been visited by 300 Taranaki District Health Board staff members who made more than 900 comments and suggestions for improvement.
The public will now get their chance at an open day on Saturday, September 25.
The first stage of the Project Maunga redevelopment will include six new surgical theatres (an increase of two), day patient services and an inpatient ward block.
The new surgical theatres will allow for more operations to be performed.
There will also be an increase in facilities for elective surgery and procedures, a 30-bed elderly services and rehabilitation ward, a 60-bed surgical and orthopaedic ward and a 60-bed medical ward.
Those interested in attending the open day should phone 753 8665 before 5pm on September 24 to be allocated a viewing time.
The room will be open between 10am and 2pm the following day.
