A host of activities around Taranaki's walkways, lakes and parks are planned as New Zealand Conservation Week gets into full swing tomorrow.

People out and about for a stroll along the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway can stop at several stations called "Walkway Wonders".

Groups including the Department of Conservation, the Herpetological Society, Nga Motu Marine Reserve Society, New Plymouth District Council, Rotokare Trust, Moturoa School and Forest and Bird will have information stalls.

The stations will operate from 10am to 2pm.

Also tomorrow the New Plymouth Tramping Club will lead a hike up the Davies Track, heading to Patuha Trig for lunch.The four-hour tramp begins from Surrey Hill Rd at 9am.

On the Monday and Tuesday evenings Forest and Bird frog researcher, Nathan Hill, will host Amphibian Night Surveys in Pukekura Park. Bookings are essential.

Moturoa School will hold Survival Garden Tours on Tuesday between 9.15am and 12.15pm.

Tours around Lake Rotokare are planned for Wednesday and next Saturday and Sunday.

There will be information stations around the lake for the Wednesday walk from 10am to 2pm, while Saturday will be a night walk from 6.30pm.

The Sunday visit to the lake will be "Ave a Go" day with guests invited to take part in community projects.

Also next Saturday will be the Sandy Bay Day from 9am to 12pm.

John Leslie will lead a stroll along the beach looking at sand dune dynamics, the results of recent restoration work and the gold-striped gecko habitat.
