Power was cut to about 9800 homes in South Taranaki for two hours this morning due to a problem with Transpower national grid.
Transpower are investigating the cause of the cuts which were recorded in Alton, Hawera, Hurleyville, Kakaramea, Kapuni, Manutahi, Normanby, Okaiawa, Patea, Manaia and Whenuakura.
"We have patrolled our lines and found no damage, so we are still investigating," Transpower communications manager Rebecca Wilson said.
The power was cut about 7am but it has since been restored.
