A truck driver escaped without injury after tipping his truck which was loaded with sand just south of New Plymouth yesterday.
The crash happened about 2.20pm at the intersection of State Highway 3 and Junction St.
Senior Constable Jason Koch said the 20-year-old driver, who was heading towards New Plymouth along State Highway 3, was attempting to turn right into Junction Rd.
"It would appear that it has happened during the turn and the driver himself said he was going too fast," Mr Koch said.
A rear tyre on the lefthand-side of the truck blew out in the crash.
Sand from the truck's load was used to stop leaking fluids getting into nearby drains.
