Resources consent applications for a multi-million dollar hotel development have been lodged with the New Plymouth District Council.
Council consents manager Ralph Broad confirmed this morning that the applications have been filed by a company called Hobson Hotel Development Ltd.
"We're going through the applications now to make sure all the i's have been dotted and the t's crossed before we move on to the next phase, which is to process the application," he said.
Depending on acceptance of the project by the site's immediate neighbours the consent application could be processed within one month.
Any appeals may push this process out to as long as 13 weeks.
The multi-million dollar, 100-room hotel is to be built on corner of Leach and Hobson streets directly across the road from the Quality Hotel Plymouth International and only a block away from the Devon Hotel.
The three-storey hotel will feature the 100 rooms, a small penthouse, full conference facilities, restaurants and bars.
The land has the former Brethren Church and two houses on it.
