This year's top Taranaki property is a French-themed home.
Hassall Homes Ltd has taken out the supreme award for the House of the Year as well as the new homes $600,000-$1 million category.
The three-bedroom house impressed judges who rewarded the builders for their effort in detailing to reflect the authentic French furnishings picked by the client.
The Hillsborough home was also awarded the PlaceMakers heart of the home kitchen award, bathroom excellence award and the craftsmanship award.
The judges said the home was nicely apportioned and well designed to take advantage of the mountain and garden views.
"The kitchen and bathrooms are very well appointed and heavily detailed to reflect the French theme throughout," they said.
"The kitchen features traditional detailed panelling on the doors and drawers and the use of materials to match the design style was very authentic."
They said Hassall Homes builders' craftsmanship was excellent across the board.
All of the entries in the Taranaki Registered Master Builders PlaceMakers 2012 House of the Year were acknowledged at an awards night at the Plymouth Hotel last night.
There were five gold award winners from Taranaki that will now be assessed alongside winners from the other 11 regions of the competition to find the national gold reserve finalists.
The gold award winners are Terry Clegg Builders Ltd in two categories, Paul Jones Construction Ltd, Abode Design and Build Ltd and Hassall Homes Ltd.
The national winners will be announced in September.
