The Village People to play at TSB Stadium
"Performances will seem more like dance parties."
It's time dust off your disco clothes, the Village People are coming to town.
A four-stop tour of New Zealand, including a gig at the TSB Stadium, was announced this morning.
Marketed as a riotous dance concert, the group will perform all their greatest hits, including Macho Man, YMCA, Go West and In The Navy, the media release said.
"Their New Zealand performances will seem more like dance parties than concerts," it read.
"The Village People and promoters are encouraging audiences to get into the party spirit by donning their favourite disco-wear - or better still, come dressed as their favourite Village People character."
The group, which formed in 1977, is now made up of original members Felipe Rose (Native American), Alex Briley (Soldier), David Hodo (Construction Worker), plus two members that have been with Village People for 30 years, Ray Simpson (Cop) and Jeff Olson (Cowboy), and their latest recruit Eric Anzalone (Biker), who replaced original member Glenn Hughes in 1995.
The group will perform at the TSB Stadium in New Plymouth on Friday, November 30. Tickets can be bought through ticketmaster and go on sale on September 10.
