Seven-year-old Jackson Stewart won the biggest junior trout award at the Inglewood Rod and Gun Club's annual trout season weigh-in yesterday.
Jackson took about half an hour to pull in his 1.72kg brown trout and said it hadn't been too difficult.
The Lepperton boy did come out with a battle scar however, after copping a hook to the head in the process.
The biggest catch overall was a 1.75kg trout caught by Billy Moratti.
Fish & Game officer Allen Stancliff said although conditions had been tough in the weekend, a reasonable trout fishing season was predicted.
"All of our streams have come through the winter pretty well, there's been no major damaging floods, so I think it will pick up."
