The MetService has issued a severe weather watch with heavy rain and gale force northerlies expected in Taranaki today.
A front is expected to move across much of New Zealand today and early tomorrow, preceded by a period of strong northerlies and the possibility of severe gale gusts in South Taranaki.
A period of heavy rain is also expected about higher slopes of Mt Taranaki today.
Significant rainfalls are likely, although it is uncertain if amounts will reach warning levels and a watch will be maintained, MetService says.
