Chinese Acrobats from the Zirka Circus readied themselves yesterday ahead of opening night.
The Circus is in town until Sunday with a completely different show to when it visited New Plymouth in April last year.
Zirka Circus managing director Jeni Hou said this year's big act was the "ball of death", where five motorcyclists speed around a metal cage.
"It's a very dangerous situation, that's why they call it the ball of death," Ms Hou said.
There will one show tonight and one tomorrow night followed by three shows on Saturday and two on Sunday.
