Hawera Christian School has been given the green light to start moving into the old Tokaora School site.
Formerly Belmont Christian Academy, the South Rd school had to find a new home after the church leadership said it needed the buildings at the 36-student school to expand.
With its new name in place and a site secured, the school community now needs to do some maintenance over the summer holidays.
A lease had to be signed with the Office of Treaty Settlements.
Secretary of the school's trust, Stephen Barrett, says there will be initial practical repairs and interior painting of the school building.
Looking ahead, the school hopes to reopen the swimming pool, get a new toilet block and paint the outside of the buildings. "We aim to be very much part of the community and we look forward to helping to rebuild our part of Tokaora," he said.
