Hundreds of New Plymouth residents tested the new Lower Brougham St shared space at the weekend.

Let's Go project manager Carl Whittleston said seeing people stop and enjoy the space during the street party filled all those involved with a lot of pride.

"By having a band down there, businesses involved and having a fine day for the first day of summer really showed what the shared space is about.

"Compared to what it was, people are much more prepared to walk through the area and spend a bit of time there."
