A 53-year-old woman was taken to hospital after crashing her car near Egmont Village yesterday.

The accident happened about 9.45am on Egmont Rd, Kaimiro.

Constable Darren Hayes, of Inglewood, said it appeared the woman, who was the sole occupant in the southbound car, has lost control on a moderate left hand corner.

''She's over corrected several times and crashed into the bank and her vehicle's ended up on its side,'' Mr Hayes said.

The woman was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital by St John ambulance.
