A Hawera man has been jailed for 28 months after a police raid last year that found a greenhouse and house full of cannabis.
Aaron Sydney Cooper, 25, was sentenced in the High Court in New Plymouth after District Court Judge Allan Roberts declined jurisdiction because of the large amount of cannabis on the property.
Cooper had earlier pleaded guilty to possessing and cultivating cannabis for supply and the unlawful possession of a firearm.
Cooper told police all the cannabis was his and denied he sold any.
The summary of facts says the police search of Cooper's Wilson St, Hawera, home about 2.15pm on April 11 last year found a large mature quality cannabis plant, weighing 11.86 kilograms, with a large number of mature heads on it in a glass house at the back of the property.
In the garage was an All Blacks back pack with 150 grams of quality dried cannabis head, a set of scales and plastic "fifty bags", commonly used to sell cannabis.
In total, 153 grams of dried cannabis head was found, as well as more than 1000 cannabis seeds.
