Motorists travelling around the mountain will have to put the brakes on as roadworks continue on several stretches of State Highway 3 today.

A New Zealand Transport Agency traffic advisory said there will be roadworks between Egmont Village and Inglewood between 5am and 7am and 9am to 3pm daily.

Stratford drivers could also be facing daily delays for up to a month as repairs began on a section of SH3 on Broadway between Craig St and the Regan St roundabout yesterday.

The advisory said to expect delays between 9am and 3pm every day, and a 30kmh speed limit will be in place.

Road resurfacing at the south end of Stratford will be also be carried out during the day.

In Hawera, more delays are expected because road repairs on a section of Waihi Rd between Maire St and Hunter St began yesterday.

The work should be completed in seven to 10 days.

Crews will be working between 8am and 5pm and may have to close one lane at times.

Another short section of road in Hawera at the intersection with South Rd near Princes St is also being repaired from 7am until 5pm. There will be temporary speed limit in place and northbound traffic will be diverted via Collins St and Glover Rd.

Resealing work south of Hawera (between Mokoia and Manutahi) on Manawapou Hill will also be carried out.
