Crunching tackles, devastating runs and a fair bit of fleet footwork helped a South Taranaki Invitiational side dominate the Parliamentary XV on Saturday.

The home side - stacked with former Taranaki and Hurricanes players - won 24-12 in front of about 200 supporters at Hawera's Hicks Park.

Former Taranaki wing Shayne Austin proved to be the matchwinner, carving up the Wellington-based side with ease.

But at fulltime the scoreline didn't matter as the real winner was South Taranaki Victim Support.

All proceeds from the game and after-match auction went to charity.
