An Ohawe man's dream of jetskiing in the ocean has been dashed.
Raymond John Lewis Govenor, 30, was yesterday remanded on bail by Judge Geoffrey Ellis at the Hawera District Court after being found guilty of scooting away with a $18,000 jetski from a Wilson Rd property in Hawera between July 28 and August 4.
However, the court heard the jetski was originally stolen from Taupo but it was unclear if the owner was aware of the jetski's history. Judge Ellis said the burglary did not appear to be a "random stealing of property from strangers".
"But rather, there appears to be some sort of murky connection between the occupant of the property, which has raised some doubt to your culpability."
