A violent man who refused all efforts to rehabilitate him has been jailed for six months after assaulting and spitting on his former partner.
Qwinton Tuari, 31, admitted assaulting the woman, contravening a protection order and stealing, the New Plymouth District Court was told.
His lawyer, Kylie Pascoe, said Tuari's offending was drug-related and he admitted using methamphetamine.
He had accused his partner of infidelity when he attacked her. The relationship was at an end, she said.
Judge Allan Roberts sentenced Tuari to 6 months jail and his fines of $4560 were remitted.
On release he is to undergo drug and alcohol and domestic violence counselling.
