Pukekura Park's half million dollar playground will officially open tomorrow morning.
Closed since June for a complete re-build, the playground is set to open with many new features including the ''New Zealand wave,'' a giant climbing net.
New Mayor Andrew Judd said Pukekura Park was an iconic park in New Zealand and would now have a suitable iconic playground to match.
''We have a unique playground with exciting features that kids will love to play on, and that's thanks in large part to the design input from local students,'' Mr Judd said.
The project attracted substantial sponsorship from New Zealand Community Trust and Energy Works and was based on concept designs from students.
The new playground, located near the water wheel, will be open to students from Highlands Intermediate and Central school at 11am, after which the playground will be opened to the public.
