A Hawera man is taking a novel approach to selling land - buy some sheep and get the land underneath them thrown in for nothing.
Lance Hart was put off by the cost of listing his empty section and decided to try his hand at marketing it himself.
So he whacked up a cardboard sign outside his Glasgow St property: "For sale - (three sheep), two ewes, one lamb at $33,000 each, comes with free section".
The sign went up on Wednesday, and while no-one has yet phoned to express an interest, passersby have stopped for a look.
Mr Hart confirmed the intention was to sell the section.
"But if people want the sheep they could have [them] as well."
The Harts bought the section when they moved into the property next door eight years ago.
But with two children in tow, the family decided they had to sell the land to reduce the burden of their mortgage.
