An emotional Bruce Hine will lead a group of motorcyclists for a memorial ride in honour of a friend killed a year ago tomorrow.
Mr Hine is expecting up to 100 riders to take part in the Kelly Reardon Memorial Motorcycle Ride to remember Mr Reardon, 40, of Waitara, and Gordon Thomas McKay, 68, of Bell Block.
The pair were killed when a van hit them just north of the Normanby overpass.
They were part of the annual Round The Mountain Toy Run.
Adam Beaumont and Wayne Stables suffered serious injuries.
All four riders, including Mr Hine, were among the 250 motorcyclists out collecting toys for the Salvation Army.
Mr Hine said the memorial ride was a private affair arranged between Mr Reardon's friends.
"It might not necessarily be a lot of bikes but cars as well and generally people who knew Kelly," he said.
"He was a well-known character."
Riders will leave the Waitara War Memorial Hall at 10.30am and ride to Normanby, where they will place a wooden cross for Mr Reardon.
