Police are again warning the public to secure their cars after a ute was stolen from Urenui overnight.

The dark green Mazda bounty was taken from a driveway on Whakapaki St while thieves went through two other unlocked vehicles in the town.

Constable Ben Siffleet said police wanted to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious or had information about the theft.

''It's a reminder to everyone to keep their vehicles secured,'' Mr Siffleet said.

The stolen Bounty, registration ZP7421, had tinted windows, alloy mag wheels and roof racks.

Anyone with information is asked to call Waitara police on 06-754 9200.
