VW enthusiasts are gathering this weekend to share their love of the classic car.
The annual Taranaki VW Christmas Camp will be held at Oakura campsite, and club secretary Bryan Goodhue said it would be a weekend of fun for family and friends.
"It's a very laid-back affair with like-minded people getting together to chill out with a good yarn, a few games for the kids and a visit from the man in red," Mr Goodhue said.
"The VW club has a varied bunch of members from those who did their big OE in a Kombi , the strung-out hippies that were probably conceived in the back while listening to Frank Zappa, right through to drivers of 2013 water pumpers."
Weekend activities will include a big dig, barbecue, family challenge, a visit from Santa and outdoor movies.
The club will also farewell on Sunday the iconic Kombi van, which is going out of production at the end of the year.
The weekend forecast is for rain, but Mr Goodhue isn't worried.
"We all know in Taranaki that if you can see the mountain it is going to rain and if you can't, it's raining. Most VW owners are Taranaki hardcore, so the weather will be what it will be."
