South Taranaki police were kept on their toes yesterday. First they were called to a firearm incident on Hawera's Collins St at 7.30pm.

Sergeant Ivan Smith said police arrested and charged a 36-year- old male for weapon related offences.The man will appear in New Plymouth court today.

At 9.30pm last night police came across a group of people fighting on Glover Rd.

"It was a domestic related incident from a party nearby," Mr Smith said. A 21-year- old male and 20-year-old female was arrested and charged with assault.

They will appear in the Hawera District Court on Tuesday.
