South Taranaki fire fighters were called out to two house fires early this morning.
Fire services were called out to the first incident at 2.25am at Okaiawa after a Normanby Rd property caught fire.
The house was "totally involved" by the time fire crews from Okaiawa and Hawera arrived. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Hawera fire services were also called to a shed fire on Hawera's Larlin Dr at 2.26am.
Hawera chief fire officer Darryl Fowler said the smoke alarm had alerted the occupant to the fire. "There was a small fire in the wall of the garage," Mr Fowler said.
Fire personnel are currently working with police to investigate the Okaiawa fire.
