LATEST: A father and his 20-month-old daughter lost in Egmont National Park have been found.

The Taranaki pair were located by a search and rescue dog about 4pm this afternoon.

Senior sergeant Matt Prendergast said the man and child were safe and uninjured.

The pair left Davies Track, on the Kaitake Range, about 11am and the alarm was raised at 1.20pm.

"He has gone in there just for a walk but the track seems to be a bit overgrown at the moment and he's accidentally gone off track," Mr Prendergast said.

A rescue team and a dog set off in search of the pair and once they made voice contact with the man the dog located the father and daughter.
