Yesterday afternoon was the perfect time for a romantic waddle along Oakura Beach for two black swans, to the delight of beachgoers.
Tony Hutchins said he has lived in Oakura on and off since 1977 and this was the first time he had seen swans on the sand.
The feathery duo come one week after the visit of eight vagrant pelicans who briefly made the Patea River their home.
