A woman with a broken ankle was rescued from the ski field on Mt Taranaki yesterday afternoon.

The Taranaki Community Rescue Helicopter tried to reach her around 2:30pm, but weather conditions meant the mission was called off and the helicopter returned to base.

Three police search and rescue staff members, a member of the Taranaki Alpine Cliff Rescue and a medic went by foot from the Stratford Plateau and took the woman to Maunganui Lodge where she was stabilised.

The woman, who was a visitor to the region, was taken down the mountain by stretcher around 5:00pm and transferred to Taranaki Base Hospital by ambulance.

Will Aaron Cruden's omission hurt or help the All Blacks?

Hurt - he needs as much game time as possible.

Help - finally Beauden Barrett will get a proper run.

Hmmm - no biggie, just a temporary hitch.

Who is Cruden? I support the All Whites.
