The expansion of a Hawera recycling service has been given the green light by the South Taranaki District Council.

Egmont Refuse and Recycling Ltd have been granted resource consent for a new building on land in Scott St which will house recycled material from the company's existing site.

The application had been opposed by three parties.

Pending any appeal to the Environment Court, work is likely to begin within three months.
