Jeanette Mallowes and Jimmy Kurth want your preloved items to raise much-needed funds for a Napier woman to undergo a life-saving surgery overseas.
The two New Plymouth women will be holding a garage sale at Ms Kurth's place on Barrett Rd as part of a nationwide fundraiser event.
Donations are also sought from businesses and individuals for the garage sale.
The garage sale would take off at various parts of the country simultaneously on January 18 at 8am, with an aim of raising $150,000 by March 5.
Napier woman Jacqui Scott suffered severe damage to her bowel, bladder and genital area after she was raped in 2005. She underwent corrective surgery but a year later, she was still suffering from "disabling pain" in her abdomen, back and legs.
Both Mrs Mallowes and Ms Kurth decided to help out after learning about the event on Facebook.
Mrs Mallowes said she wanted to do her part because she could relate to Mrs Scott's story on a personal level.
Ms Kurth said she loved helping charity and once shaved her hair to raise money for cancer.
Contact Jeanette Mallowes on 027 427 7377 or Jimmy Kurth on 021 024 30131 for information.
People can also contact Jacqui Scott on (06) 844 9799.
