Speed is being investigated as a factor in a crash which hospitalised a motorcyclist this morning.
A car and a motorbike collided on Wallath Rd in Westown around 11.30am.
Senior constable Grant Kennard said the car was making a right turn into Magnolia Drive when the motorbike collided hard with the side of the vehicle.
The motorcyclist was thrown several metres.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Taranaki Base Hospital by ambulance.
His Harley Davidson was still laying bent and buckled in the middle of the lane while fire brigades worked to clear the road.
